Lara St. John: The Ancient Flame

Lara St. John plays Avner Dorman’s Violin Concerto No. 2, ‘Nigunim’. Nicolas Ellis conducts.
One of London Symphonia’s most exciting concerts in the 2025-26 Season! Internationally acclaimed violinist Lara St. John’s dazzling performance of Avner Dorman’s riveting Violin Concerto No. 2, ‘Nigunim’ showcases her breathless artistry. Nicolas Ellis, one of the Canada’s top conductors, brings a rich range of musical ideas and perspectives to Dorman’s Violin Concerto and the other works on the program: music from Mendelssohn’s fun and capricious A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring Suite, a peaceful, hopeful and optimistic piece. Both Lara St. John and Nicolas Ellis make their London Symphonia debuts at this concert. Born and raised in London Ontario, this performance is St. John’s first in London in over 10 years.
Recorded live at Metropolitan United, London, Ontario, January 17, 2026.
