Maestra Tania Miller, a favourite of London Symphonia musicians and audiences alike, returns to lead the orchestra’s Season Finale concert of impactful music that evokes the resilience of the human spirit. This extraordinary concert opens with the World Premiere of a flute concerto written by Canadian composer Alexis Marsh specially for Laura Chambers, London Symphonia’s principal flute, who performs the work. Commissioned by London Symphonia, the concerto is filled with beauty and optimism. Rounding out the program are Shostakovich’s Chamber Symphony, an attestation to the ability of the human spirit to triumph over adversity, and Beethoven’s transcendent Symphony No. 7, believed by many to be his finest.
The concert received rave reviews from the audience with standing ovations after each work.
